Paddle Queensland promotes education and training opportunities to its members, clubs, industry and the community to foster safety in paddling.  We are a National Training Provider registered to deliver training and assessment from the Paddle Australia Qualification Scheme (PAQS).

Avaliable Courses

Flatwater Supervisor – Holders of the Flatwater Supervisor award are qualified to supervise a paddling activity with novice paddlers on flatwater areas such as lakes, dams, slow moving rivers etc. where the group under supervision can always be seen from a single vantage point and does not leave the immediate launch area. • i.e.: – you are able to impart the skills required for participants to partake in an activity with you, where if anything goes wrong you are there to deal with it.

Flatwater Guide – Holders of the Flatwater Guide Award are qualified to lead or guide trips on inland waters such as open lakes and rivers (but not on whitewater or sea) in controlled conditions for inland kayaking and or canoeing. • i.e.: – you are able to impart the skills required for participants to partake in a day/half day trip with you, where if anything goes wrong you are there to deal with it.

Flatwater Instructor – Holders of the Flatwater Instructor Award are qualified to lead and guide day and half day trips, plus instruct, facilitate and skill transfer to develop participants in order so that they may act independently or with minimal supervision on inland waters such as open lakes and rivers (but not on whitewater or at sea) in controlled conditions for inland kayaking and canoeing • i.e.: – you are able to train a group of beginner students with practical and theory sessions to a level where they are able to plan and undertake a trip on their own (and/or pass the flatwater skills award), where if anything goes wrong, you have trained the students to deal with it.

Coastal Guide – The holders of this award are qualified to guide groups of novices on activity and day-based programs in siton-top kayaks in coastal conditions. Outside of estuaries, embayment’s or other sheltering reefs or islands with surf up to 0.5 metres. • i.e.: – you are able to impart the skills required for participants to partake in a day/half day trip with you, where if anything goes wrong you are there to deal with it

Enclosed Sea Guide – The holders of this award are qualified to guide groups of novices on activity and day-based programs in sea kayaks in enclosed waters defined as Bays and Harbours. • i.e.: – you are able to impart the skills required for participants to partake in a day/half day trip with you, where if anything goes wrong you are there to deal with it

Enclosed Sea Instructor –The holder of this award has demonstrated the ability to train individuals and groups on activity and daybased programs in sea kayaks in enclosed sea defined as Bays and Harbours: – • i.e.: – you are able to train a group of beginner students with practical and theory sessions to a level where they are able to plan and undertake a trip on their own (and/or pass the enclosed sea skills award), where if anything goes wrong, you have trained the students to deal with it.
