Fiona Coppin

Executive Officer

Fiona has over 25 years of experience in sport, health and business development. Most recently Fiona project managed the ASC and City of Gold Coast, Coach Developer pilot. Previously Fiona negotiated deals for Councils and sporting organisations to grow and develop sports tourism as National Business Development Manager and implemented many changes as a Development Officer for Bowls Australia.

Fiona is married with a growing family that now extends to 6 grandchildren. Fiona previously paddled double surf skis, outriggers and completed the Murray Marathon. By her own admission she isn’t paddling as much as she should and that the SUPs, ocean racing skis and double plastic kayak in her garage have gathered more dust than they should!

Elisabet Osk Gudmundsdottir

Events and Membership Coordinator

Elisabet has previous experience in events and sport management and joined Queensland Canoeing in 2017. Elisabet is responsible for coordinating events, club and member administration and communications.

Prior to joining Queensland Canoeing, Elisabet worked at Valur FC one of Iceland´s most successful clubs. Where she coordinated events and game day operations. She also led a research project for the Queensland Academy of Sports (QAS), which aimed to understand the specific support needs for talent transfer athletes.

Elisabet is passionate about sport; in particular increased sports participation and athlete support systems.

Elisabet has a degree in Events and Sport Management with First Class Honours (Griffith University).

Steven Rowland

Recreation & Education Officer

Steven has over 30 years’ experience from around the world working and playing in the outdoors.  Having joined Queensland Canoeing at the start of 2016, Steven is responsible for managing all Recreation and Education programs & activities.

Prior to joining Queensland Canoeing, Steven ran his own multi award winning adventure tourism and outdoor education business in far north Queensland for 20 years.

Steven is passionate about paddling and playing in the outdoors, looking after the environment and the benefits it produces.  Steve is involved in a number of other sports as a teacher, volunteer and parent.

Steven has a Diploma of Business and Work, Health and Safety (Churchill Education) and is an Australian Canoeing Advanced Instructor and Assessor for Whitewater Kayak, Canoe and Sea Kayak.

As well as many wonderful and hard working instructors, coaches, officials, volunteers and committee members.
