Qld U23 and Junior Canoe Sprint World Championship Success

The 2017 ICF U23 and Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships were held on 27-30 July in Pitesti, Romania.

Australian U23 team members included Queenslanders Alyssa Bull, Bill Bain, Brianna Massie and Jordan Wood.

And Australian Junior team members included Queenslanders Tom Green, Tiarnee Massie, Lucinda Kelly and Mackenzie Duffy.

U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships Wrap

Alyssa Bull mastered a strong headwind to win the Women’s U23 K1 1000 Canoe Sprint world title. She also claimed silver in the Women K1 U23 500m.

Jordan Wood (and Riley Fitzsimmons) claimed bronze in the U23 K2 1000, Bill Bain finished eighth in the U23 K1 1000 final in difficult condition, while the K4 U23 Men 500m U23 K4 500 crew of Bill Bain (Jayden Ellis, Riley Fitzsimmons and Simon McTavish) finished eighth in the Final.

Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships Wrap

Tom Green finished fourth in the B Final of K4 Junior Men 500m.

The Women’s Junior crew of Tiarnee Massie, Lucinda Kelly, Mackenzie Duffy (and Jemma Smith) finished first in the B final Junior Women’s K4 500.
