New Dates set for Paracanoe Oceania Championships

We are pleased to announce new dates for Paracanoe Oceania Championships incorporating International Classification.

Event Details:

Days:              5 Day Event – Classification & Regatta

Dates:                        Wednesday June 24 to Sunday June 28

Purpose:                   Undertake and complete Classification for Oceania Paracanoe athletes in a competition environment and provide athletes with a relevant competition                                                benchmark opportunity

Invited:                      Australian National Team athletes, AC members, Oceania National Federations

Location:      Varsity Lakes, Gold Coast

The event includes classification training, 3 days of classification (Days 2,  3, 4) of the event, followed by a regatta on Day 5.

We will also have a BBQ scheduled for Sunday  – all are welcome.

Classifiers Training: 

The Classifiers training will take place Wednesday June 24th – participation restricted to AC invited and Oceania athletes.

Classification: 

Athlete classification will take place Thursday June 25th, Friday June 26th, Saturday June 27th.

Once we have the confirmed list of athletes participating in the event, we will put together the classification schedule. Each athlete will be given a 1.5 hour timeslot for the classification that it is 2 parts – the medical classification (off-water) and the technical classification (on-water)

Classification for all athletes who have been named to the 2015 National Team is mandatory and open to all other athletes should they choose to participate.

We will attempt to have all the local athletes classified on Thursday and Friday morning so that out of town athletes travelling to the Gold Coast for the event can do their classification Friday afternoon or Saturday. This will all be TBC once we have the confirmed list of athletes.

Regatta: 

On Sunday afternoon, we will host the Oceania Paracanoe Championships regatta.

The races will include:

Men’s V1

Men’s K1

Women’s V1

Women’s K1

Start times will be confirmed but we will aim to start racing around 1:00pm.

Registration details:

Please email Christine Bain (christine.bain@paddle.org.au) by Friday May 29th to enter the event with your entry details (event K1/V1) name and contact details.

Please include Y / N to participate in the classification and Y / N for your intent to compete in the race.

Note: we strongly encourage athletes to participate in both the classification and the regatta.

Cost:

$50.00 entry fee to participate in the Oceania Paracanoe Championships – this includes classification, entry fee & Sunday BBQ
