Townsville 3 Weirs Marathon Race


Sunday 13th June 2010, 7:00am start


Registration and cash entry payment (correct amount) on Saturday 12th June at the Townsville Canoe Club. (Entry from Nathan Street, next to the Council Depot, Cranbrook Park)

Registration from 2:00pm-5:00pm

Race Briefing at 5:30pm


Marathon Distance: 26km, K1, TK1, Surf Ski, Ocean Ski (3 portages)


Recreational: 10km, Junior Surf Ski, Sea Kayaks and recreational boats minimum 4.5m in length. (2 portages, mandatory that each competitor has a person to help carry the boats around the portage at Gleeson’s Weir)


Categories: Juniors U18, Open, Vet 35, 45, 55, 65


Cost: Qld Canoeing Members $25, Non Members $30


Prize Money: dependent upon numbers in each category as to the percentage split, need 5 or more to pay the first three places. Approx 60% of Race Fees in the prize pool.

Course: Along the 3 Weirs of The Ross River, starting at Riverview Tavern for the Marathon, head upstream.

The Recreational start from the Federation footbridge and head downstream.

(Course may be altered due to possible roadworks – duplication of bypass bridge and Gleeson’s Weir maintenance that may start within the next few weeks)


Note: All competitors to carry a PFD and have footwear for the portages (not thongs)
