The Paddle

How to get there

From Wellington Street, Cleveland turn into Shore Street West and head in an easterly direction and follow it around until it turns into Shore Street North, then turn left into William Street before the Redlands Boat Club at Cleveland Point.

Distance/Time to allow

This is approximately a 25 km round trip and allow could become a two to three day trip if staying longer on Stradbroke Island.

What to expect – Wind, Tide, Hazards

It can be very rough between Peel Island and the mainland. As with all bay and sea kayaking it is important to consider your skills and experience and to ensure that you have a suitable kayak and other equipment. Paddling with a group of other paddlers is a sensible approach when venturing into bay or sea areas.

Follow chart and beacons and watch for sandbanks and shallows at low tide.
