Mary River Upstream, Tiaro           


The paddle


From Petrie Park launch point head upstream as far as the conditions and your time allows. There will be a rapid between 7 to 9 km that will limit your progress. You will need to return to your launch point to finish your paddle. 


How to get there


The launch point is Petrie Park, Tiaro. From the Bruce Highway turn into Jacobsen Street. (Left if coming from Tiaro, Right if coming from Maryborough). Go over the Railway bridge and turn right into Blackmount Road, then left into Vandoorn Road. Petrie Park is at the end of this Road on the Mary River. There are toilets at this Park.


Distance/Time to allow


Allow 1 to 2 hours depending on your time on the conditions and your available time. It is approximately 7 to 9 kms to a rapid.


What to expect Ð water conditions, etc


A rapid between 7 to 9 kms will limit your progress.


There may be submerged trees in sections of the river.


Camping facilities, accommodation, etc


There is no camping in Petrie Park. Accommodation would be in either Tiaro or Maryborough.
