Mary River, EmeryÕs Crossing to Tiaro, Gundiah                                           


The paddle


From EmeryÕs Crossing head downstream. There will be a rapid about 16 kms from EmeryÕs Crossing to be aware of. You will also come across a low bridge as well.

You will need to organise a car shuttle or a non-paddler pick-up at Petrie Park, Tiaro for when you finish return your paddle. 


How to get there


The start point is EmeryÕs Crossing on the Mary River, which can be accessed from near Gundiah (which is below Tiaro on the Old Gympie Highway)


The finish point is Petrie Park, Tiaro. From the Bruce Highway turn into Jacobsen Street. (Left if coming from Tiaro, Right if coming from Maryborough). Go over the Railway bridge and turn right into Blackmount Road, then left into Vandoorn Road. Petrie Park is at the end of this Road on the Mary River. There are toilets at this Park.


Distance/Time to allow


Allow 2 to 4 hours depending on your time on the conditions and your available time. It is approximately 16 kms to a rapid. The total trip is approximately 25 km from EmeryÕs Crossing to Tiaro.


What to expect Ð water conditions, etc


There is a rapid about 16 kms from EmeryÕs Crossing.


There may be submerged trees in sections of the river.


Camping facilities, accommodation, etc


There is no camping in Petrie Park. Accommodation would be in either Tiaro or Maryborough.
