The paddle


East of the Sunshine Motorway bridge Ð on the left bank residential and high rise development with a small canal development. On the right bank on the islands within the river the Maroochy River Conservation Park. Good 2-3 hours paddle. It is also possible to paddle up Cornmeal creek to under Sunshine Plaza to beside Horton Park Golf Course.


How to get there


For the lower reaches of the Maroochy River (Maroochydore and Cotton Tree) Ð left bank, Picnic Point Esplanade, (Toilets are available.) and right bank, southern end of Nojoor Road (Mudjimba).


What to expect Ð water conditions, etc


Suitable for any craft that can handle the sometimes windy and choppy conditions. Attempting the Maroochy River bar is not recommended as conditions are normally very choppy and rough. Many other vessels use this section of the river.


Distance/Time to allow


You can tailor your paddles to the time that you have available. You can organise interesting paddles of 2 to 4 hours in duration.

There are a range of camping and accommodation choices available in the Sunshine Coast area.

Fishing. Surf. A number of other creeks and rivers. National Parks and natural environments. Cruises and other attractions.
