Baroon Pocket Dam/Lake Baroon


The paddle


This is a safe lake for all types of craft. There are many small tributaries that flow into the lake that are worth paddling up. The lake has some good scenery surrounding the waters edge varying from open grassland to bush. Good 3-4 hour paddles can be had on this lake.


How to get there


Northern end Ð off Western Avenue at southern end of Montville or for the southern end of the lake Ð at end of Baroon Pocket Road from Maleny. Toilets are available at both locations.


What to expect Ð water conditions, etc


      On this freshwater lake the water can become choppy if the winds pick up strength. Suitable for most crafts.


Distance/Time to allow


You can tailor your paddles to the time that you have available. You can organise interesting paddles of 2 to 4 hours in duration.


Camping facilities, accommodation, etc


There is no camping allowed at the Dam/Lake area. Accommodation in nearby Montville and Maleny. There is a caravan park in Maleny.
